MANILA -- There are plans for singer-actor Ogie Alcasid to do a movie for this year's Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
In an interview on Monday, Alcasid told reporters that he was offered to do "Kuya Wes," one of the 10 finalists for Cinemalaya 2018, was offered to him last year.
"Nagustuhan ko talaga 'yung script. I really loved it. It was something that I really wanted to do. Nakipag-meet ako sa writer and director at mayroon silang kinakailangang budget para sa film," Alcasid said
"Kuya Wes," by James Robin Mayo, tells the story of an employee in a money transfer company who finds himself in a relationship with a regular client, a married woman who is having problems in her marriage.
Alcasid said he already asked Spring Films' producers Piolo Pascual and director Joyce Bernal if they are interested to be part of the project.
"Ang sabi ng director at writer ako lang 'yung nakikita niyang gaganap sa role. So noong binasa ni Joyce, mukha naman silang interesado. Mag-uusap pa kami ni PJ (Pascual) after lang ng concert ko. Parang may interest sila. Ang nauna niyang nabanggit sa akin na they want to co-produce with me, which I'm very open to. So hopefully after the concert makapag-usap kami at sana matuloy," said Alcasid, who is gearing up for the pre-Valentine concert "#paMORE" with Martin Nievera, Erik Santos and his wife Regine Velasquez.
Alcasid is also planning to hold a major concert this year to mark his 30th anniversary in show business.
