MANILA -- Actress Kim Chiu received mixed reactions for telling off reporters when pressed about the real score between her and on screen partner Xian Lim.
At the press conference for their upcoming film "Bride for Rent" on Tuesday night, the two lead stars were again asked about their off-screen relationship, to which Chiu remarked, "We don't owe you any of our personal lives."
The Star Cinema movie, directed by Mae Czarina Cruz, will hit theaters on January 15.
In her official Twitter account, Chiu retweeted her fans messages defending her but was also clearly bothered by the reactions to her statement.
Social networking sites were abuzz about the actress' comments, which received both positive and negative reactions.
"MAHAL KA NAMIN PRINSESA :)) We're behind you in every step of the way!!" user @chryxi28 said.
"Kim's head is swollen.. Too heavy to carry....," Angelita Abas said.
"Just heard the news @prinsesachinita about the presscon thingy. HUGSSSSS! This world is full of evil just FIGHT ON & be positive. XOXO," netizen itsmeoriGEEnal said.
"Miss Kim you forgot that the press rule in your life was You owe your popularity from the press !!! YOU forgot huh !!!" Marilyn Lacson said.
"@prinsesachinita watched the presscon on yt. grabe I respect all your answers, well said. EXCITED MUCH NA FOR #BrideForRent goodluck!" @gigaelalooo said.
"She has a point but sometimes it's not really what you say it's how you say it. Whether she likes it or not she owes much to the public and it's just normal for people to be eager about their status. She could have said it in a better way," Xiela Paguilaman added.
On Wednesday morning, a seemingly more positive Chiu posted a photo on her Instagram account with the caption: "People will hate you, rate you, shake you and break you. but how strong you stand is what makes you." good morning!!!:) today is another day!:) God bless everyone!:) #goodvibes #spreadthelove #thankful #grateful brideforrent jan 15 na!:)"
