"Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" star Vice Ganda guests on "Buzz ng Bayan."
MANILA – Vice Ganda came to the defense of "Boy Girl Bakla Tomboy" co-star Maricel Soriano after critics questioned her best actress victory at the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) awards night.
This also comes amid complaints received by the MMFF board from the producers of entry "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel," which was supposedly snubbed at the MMFF awards.
In an interview with “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, Vice Ganda said being named best actress does not depend on the number of scenes an actress appears in.
During the awards night, “Kimmy Dora” lead actress Eugene Domingo was named Female Star of the Night. She joked in her acceptance speech that the award was a consolation prize for not winning Best Actress.
Afraid to make more movies?
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda admitted that he also feels scared to make another movie because his past films have been doing very well in the box office.
Vice Ganda said he is thankful that moviegoers continue to patronize his movies.
Nagpapasalamat ako,” he said.
As of Saturday, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” remains among the top four earners in this year’s MMFF.
On Friday, the producers of the Vice Ganda-starrer reported that the film have already breached the P300-million mark in earnings.
