MANILA, Philippines – Actress Claudine Barretto has stayed mum on reports that she made a scene at a hospital recently.
News about Barretto berating a doctor and a hospital staff was first reported in a radio program, quoting anonymous sources, and then picked up by several tabloids.
According to these reports, Barretto’s husband, actor Raymart Santiago, had to go to the hospital to appease his wife to no avail.
But in an interview aired on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Barretto’s lawyers said they were unaware of the incident.
“Nakakausap naman namin siya from time to time and wala namang ganoong insidente,” said Atty. Rose Ann Rosales.
“Knowing Claudine naman, hindi naman basta-basta makikipagaway 'yon ng ganun-ganun lang,” added Atty. Renel Operario.
“The Buzz” said it tried to get a comment personally from Barretto but was told that the actress was out of town.
Meanwhile, actress Gretchen Barretto, who was the guest co-host of “The Buzz” on Sunday, said she texted her sister about the rumors before going on air.
“Tinawagan niya ako noong nasa dressing room and sabi niya, 'Ayaw ko nang mag-comment.’ So I guess I have to respect that,” the “Princess and I” star said.
Claudine made headlines in 2012 after she and Santiago got into a nasty confrontation with hard-hitting columnist Mon Tulfo at the airport last July. The celebrity couples filed charges of physical injuries and child abuse against Tulfo, which started when the broadcaster tried to take photos of Barretto berating an airline employee.
