The 'Health Show ng Bayan', Salamat Dok, was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) last July 25, 2014 at The Heritage Hotel in Pasay City as one of the agency's unsung heroes for its selfless efforts to help Typhoon Yolanda victims.
Two weeks after the onslaught of the monstrous typhoon, the decade-long running public service program braved hard-hit Tacloban City and three towns in Leyte--Tolosa, Dulag and Tanauan. The program was able to provide free medicines, consultation and debriefing.
A month after, the team served hundreds of beneficiaries from other Yolanda-torn areas in Samar--Basey, Sta. Rita and Marabot.
In a press release during the "Unsung Heroes" event, DOH Secretary Enrique Ona said, "To the almost 9,000 medical/health responders from about 222 institutions and agencies, including the 351 medical teams both local and foreign, thanking you is an understatement. The DOH is indebted to all of you."
