Time to be proud once again, Philippines!
Pinoy race car driver Marlon Stockinger scored another first for the country after he became the first Filipino to make a podium finish in the prestigious GP3 series in Barcelona, Spain.
The young Fil-Swiss, driving for the Status Grand Prix team in the opener of the 2012 GP3 Series, placed second among a strong field of 26 best GP3 drivers in the world.
The event was held on an actual Formula One racetrack, and for Marlon, stepping on that podium for the first time was surreal.
Starting fifth on the grid, the young Pinoy driver moved to fourth after a strong start and was then promoted to second after two cars in front of him were penalized for making false starts.
Marlon, determined to make a strong showing, gave chase and finally finished just 2.6 seconds behind the leader.
After this successful outing, Marlon is back on the training grid in England to prepare for the Monte Carlo open. For this Pinoy driver, the road to success may be long but he is determined to drive through it, all the way past the checkered flag!
