MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - Popular social microblogging site Twitter went offline early Friday morning in the Philippines, leaving its users in the dark.
Its main website was inaccessible, while third-party mobile and desktop application such as Hootsuite failed to connect to Twitter.
Twitter confirmed the yet-to-be-explained service disruption.
"Users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue," it said in its blog.
Service was restored for some users an hour later.
