MANILA, Philippines – An airplane-tracking website makes use of surveillance broadcast feeds to allow the public to track flights worldwide in real time.
Planefinder.net uses data transmitted by the planes through its Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcasts (ADS-B), which gives aircraft information such as name, position and status.
The site also shows the plane’s route.
Plane Finder also offers an application for iPhone, iPad and Android users.
The Plane Finder AR app can track planes through the camera of the mobile device.
According to planefinder.net, users can identify any aircraft flying overhead by simply pointing the camera of their mobile phone at the sky.
