TOKYO - Yamaha Corp. said Thursday it released a software program for the iPad tablet computer, dubbed Mobile Music Sequencer, for composing songs by allowing keyboard input of original tunes and selections from a combination of 382 phrase patterns.

The app, downloadable from App Store, is priced at 1,700 yen but available for 850 yen until Feb. 28, the musical instrument maker said.

The app also has a remix function allowing users to create new phrases out of the ones that they have chosen and play and edit them on Yamaha synthesizers by exporting them as standard MIDI files, it said.
