MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has lined up P125 billion worth of infrastructure projects for rollout next year.

Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson said most of the projects will be awarded in the first quarter of 2012 to take advantage of good weather conditions.

He added they will focus on upgrading national roads to improve quality and safety, and building new bridges.

"By 2014, we are committing that the quality of our national primary roads will be upgraded. By 2016, all the secondary roads will be upgraded. In addition to that, by 2016 all of our bridges will become permanent. We still have bridges that are made of wood and are temporary," he said. - Report from ANC
