Quinta damage to agriculture reaches P124M

MANILA, Philippines - Farm damage caused by Tropical Storm “Quinta” hit P124.434 million, latest data from the Agriculture department showed.

The cost of rice crops damaged reached P101.503 million, while the value of corn plants devastated by Quinta summed up to P6.085 million.

Damaged high value crops, meanwhile, amounted to P16.835 million.

The data also showed damage to agriculture facilities and infrastructure reached only P11,500.

"Validation is still going on," the Agriculture department stressed, as the latest available figures were collected Friday afternoon.

Quinta, which battered the Visayas region last week, left at least 12 people dead.
