MANILA, Philippines - Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jericho Petilla said 93 percent of power has been restored in Yolanda-ravaged areas.

But individual houses might not yet get electricity if their power lines were damaged.

Twenty towns remain unconnected to the grid, most of which are in Aklan and Eastern Samar.

Authorities said power will be restored in these areas by December 24.

Petilla, who was bypassed at the Commission on Appointments, promised to attend in the next hearing on the power rate hike if he remains as Energy secretary.

"Depende na sa President kung irere-aapoint ako," he said.

Petilla also apologized on behalf of DOE Undersecretary Raul Aguilos for answering in a crude way at yesterday's Senate hearing.
