MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has extended the deadline for submission of bid proposals for the P35.4 billion Cavite-Laguna expressway (CALAX) project.

The bid proposals submission date has been moved from January 20, 2014 to April 21, 2014.

“In response to the request of several pre-qualified bidders for more time to conduct technical, financial, and legal due diligence, the bid proposals submission date is moved from January 20, 2014 to April 21, 2014,” DPWH Undersecretary Rafael Yabut said in the Supplemental Bid Bulletin No. 12.

Four bidders have been prequalified by the special bids and awards committee (BAC) for public-private partnership (PPP) projects, which is chaired by Yabut.

The four bidders are Ayala-led Team “Orion,” MPCALA Holdings Inc. of infrastructure conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp., Optimal Infrastructure Development Inc. of diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp., and Malaysia’s Alloy MTD Philippines.

The project involves the construction of a 4-lane expressway that would connect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) and the Manila Cavite Tollroad Expressway (Cavitex).

The 47-kilometer closed-system tolled expressway starts from the Cavitex in Kawit, Cavite and ends at the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna.
