MANILA - Waze has confirmed what many people have suspected all along: the Philippines is the worst country in the world to be a driver.
The traffic navigation app recently released its annual Driver Satisfaction Index, which surveyed motorists from 39 countries and metropolitan centers where Waze has at least 40,000 or more active users.
Waze said it asked drivers to rank their country based on six key factors, namely: severity of traffic; road quality and infrastructure; safety; access to gas stations and easy parking; access to cars and impact of gas prices; and "wazeyness" or the happiness and helpfulness of the Waze community.
The best place to be a driver, based on the study, is the Netherlands, thanks to its prime traffic conditions, road quality and infrastructure.
In Southeast Asia, Malaysia ranked as the best place to drive, placing 21st globally.
The Philippines, meanwhile, ranks dead last at 39 in terms of driver satisfaction.
Joining the Philippines in the bottom 5 are the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Indonesia and Russia.
