MANILA, Philippines -- As Christmas draws near, malls are also offering sales and promos.
That's why shoppers are also beginning to flock the stores to buy gifts.
There's good news for those who want to avoid the crowd and long queues because some malls are preparing for the Christmas rush.
A mall in Marikina, for instance, already put up satellite stalls for toys, clothes and accessories, so that shoppers don't need to go to the stores to buy.
“At least you don’t need to go inside, ‘d ba?” said mall shopper, Mae Santos.
There are also express lanes for gift wrapping of three items or less.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) encourages other stores to put up their own express lanes for the holiday season.
“[Magiging] hassle free, mabilis ang pamimili at pagbayad,” said DTI Usec. Zeny Maglaya.
The Philippine Retailers Association advises the public to shop early to avail of discounts and promo items.
“Wala ka nang makikitang sales promotions in the weeks leading to Christmas,” said Atty. Paul Santos of the Philippine Retailers Association
Retailers say shoppers should stick to their list of the things they need to buy so they don't go over budget.
