MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) will create a separate fact-finding panel to investigate the P12-billion pyramiding scam involving Aman Futures Philippines, Inc.
Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said the panel will assist the National Task Force ordered by President Aquino which will be composed of the DOJ, Department of Finance (DOF), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The panel will be separate from the 14-member special panel of prosecutors created for the conduct of preliminary investigation proceedings on thousands of complaints filed by alleged victims of the firm.
Some 15,000 people in the Visayas and Mindanao has been allegedly victimized by the investment scam. Some of the victims are allegedly public officials. The DOJ will investigate on whether public funds were used in the scam.
Aman Futures was founded by Malaysian Mohammad Suffian Saaid also known as Manuel Amalilio, who has been reported to have already fled the country.
