MANILA, Philippines - Telcos will not be suspending any 'unli' promos this holiday season, an official of the National Telecommunications Commission said.

No applications to terminate current unlimited call or unlimited text messaging promos so far have been made by any telco to the NTC, Director Edgardo Cabarios said.

"None at this time. We would have known by this time if they would halt any promo offers since there is a prescribed window time between the filing and effectivity of such application," Cabarios said.

Smart Communications, Inc. chief wireless adviser Orlando Vea confirmed that his firm is "not likely to suspend" any promos this Christmas season.

For Globe Telecom, Inc., Froilan Castelo, head for corporate and legal services group, said the Ayala-led telco has also not made any plans to terminate current promos.

In December of 2009 and 2010, both telcos suspended most of their unli promos to prevent network congestion from an expected deluge of text messages and calls.
