MANILA, Philippines – More than 140 passengers boarded a Cebu Pacific plane for the first international flight from Iloilo to Hong Kong on Saturday night.
Passenger Felix Egalin said the flight is economical and convenient for residents in Iloilo and other neighboring provinces.
Department of Tourism regional director Helen Catalbas hopes that the Iloilo airport will become a hub for passengers who will transfer to domestic flight from Iloilo going to other areas in Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, passengers from Hong Kong arrived at the Iloilo International Airport at around 4:45 a.m. on Sundau. Among the more than 40 passengers were Philippine consul general Noel Servigun, overseas filipino workers and the presidents of different Ilonggo community in Hong Kong.
Despite this development, there are still equipment at the Iloilo International Airport, that have to be upgraded.
Ilonggo senator Franklin Drilon has committed to release at least P2.4 million from his priority development assistance fund for the purchase of passport scanner for the airport.
