MANILA, Philippines - The local unit of US automaker Ford Motor Company on Friday reported year-on-year surge in sales in October due to huge demand for various models.
In a statement, Ford Philippines said overall retail sales jumped by 50% to 1,248 units in October, an "all-time best monthly performance" for the firm.
"Our record performance in October is further evidence that Ford continues to deliver vehicles that our customers want and value – and just as importantly to them – that are affordable," Ford Philippines President Randy Krieger said in the statement.
Sales of the Ford Ranger pickup ballooned 213% to 282 units in October, while sales of Ford Everest reached 311 units.
Ford Philippines also noted sales of its Ford Fiesta grew 26% to 307 units in October, while that of Escape surged 67% to 142 units.
"Customer response to our newly launched One Ford vehicles has been exceptional," Krieger said.
"Segment leading vehicles like the all-new Ranger, the technology packed all-new Focus, the all-new Explorer with EcoBoost, and the iconic Ford Mustang, are really helping widen the appeal of the Ford brand to so many new-to-Ford customers," he added.
Ford ASEAN in June announced the shut down of the automaker's car assembly plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna this year. The firm, however, will keep its sales operations in the Philippines.
