MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs is monitoring new shipments of Korean instant noodles made by South Korea's Nongshim, for allegedly containing cancer-causing chemicals.
Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazons aid he ordered officials to closely monitor imports of several kinds of instant noodles made by Nongshim.
The Food and Drug Administration earlier ordered the recall of 6 variants of the Korean instant noodles in local supermarkets. The noodles are said to contain benzopyrene, which causes cancer.
The products will also be subject to testing by the FDA.
