Lately, traffic in Metro Manila been so bad that a lot of people have taken to calling these times “carmageddon.” These heavy traffic jams will have you sitting in your car for three to five hours, depending on how bad it gets.

There could be any number of reasons for a really bad traffic jam: torrential rain, traffic in other areas that spill over onto main roads, protest rallies, or accidents. Seeing as it’s October, and holiday sales begin as early as now, odds are there will be worse traffic coming from malls around the metro.

Traffic in the country has gotten invariably worse, owing to road congestion and overpopulation. According to the 2015 Global Driver Satisfaction Index from Waze, Manila has the worst traffic in the world.

The question now is: how are you going to stay sane when the traffic reaches carmageddon levels?
