Luzon power reserves thin for 2nd straight day

MANILA - Luzon island will be on "yellow alert" on Friday for the second straight day due to thin power reserves after some generation plants went on unscheduled shutdown, the National Grid Corp said.

The alert will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with peak demand projected at 9,310 megawatts against available capacity of 9,894 megawatts, the NGCP said.

The same alert was raised on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the agency earlier said.
