MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) is anticipating "healthy" growth in third quarter profits, according to chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Asked if the company will post over P9 billion in profits in the third quarter, Pangilinan said, "most likely."
"It would be broadly similar to the first and second quarter results, about more than P9 billion."
PLDT reported P9.3 billion in core net income in the first quarter, and P9.4 billion in the second quarter.
The telco giant expects a core profit of P37 billion by the end of 2012. By 2014, PLDT is hoping to hit a record equal its 2010 record profit of P42 billion. "That was our highest core net income in the history of PLDT. We want to match that in 2014 . We are on track," Pangilinan earlier said.
