MANILA - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Thursday proposed developing cities outside the capital to help solve the traffic problem.
Potential new urban centers can stretch as far as Angeles City, Pampanga in the north to Calamba, Laguna in the south, said MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim.
Lim compared the capital's roads to a one-storey house, when demand requires real estate the size of a condominium building.
The MMDA chief said the country was several decades behind in terms of infrastructure, due to the lack of roads and mass transit systems.
Lim said the MMDA aims to bring restore discipline among motorists and strictly enforce traffic rules. -- Angel Movido, ABS-CBN News
