MANILA – Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has breached the 1 million mark in its broadband subscribers driven by the firm’s integrated approach.
PLDT President and chief executive Napoleon Nazareno said the growth in its subscriber base is attributed to the various fixed line and wireless services that provide voice, data, and multimedia services to its customers.
“In this highly competitive business, it is heartening to know that majority of the broadband market appreciate our products and services,” he said.
PLDT HOME Fibr and PLDT HOME DSL are the biggest contributors to PLDT’s wired revenues with a combined revenue growth of 20 percent.
Nearly 100,000 new subscribers were added to PLDT HOME in the first six months of the year.
“Our growing broadband subscriber base will continue to increase as we move rapidly to the digital age where people are connected 24/7. We are enriching our communications services with a growing portfolio of digital multimedia content and life solutions that address our customers various needs,” said Nazareno.
Nazareno also noted that PLDT is boosting efforts to provide communication tools and expand the reach of its broadband internet services to families in far-flung provinces through the Time Division-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) to complement its fixed network.
PLDT earlier reported that the growth in its fixed line business in the first half of 2014 offset the global downward trend in fixed line services on the back of double-digit gains in data and broadband revenues.
