MANILA, Philippines - Ford Philippines said its total retail sales hit a new record in July, driven by strong sales of the Ranger pick-up truck.
In a statement, Ford Philippines said July retail sales rose 35 percent to 1,723 units in July. Aside from the Ranger, Ford also reported continued demand for the EcoSport, Explorer and Everest brands.
"The continuing rise in appeal for the Ford brand among Filipinos, a strong economy and healthy consumer confidence is helping keep our showrooms busy across the country. And our full line-up of global Ford vehicles is allowing us to connect with and meet the wants and needs of such a wide range of customers,” said Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart.
Ford reported sales of the Ranger pick-up truck rose 45 percent to 650 units in July, a record in the Philippines. So far this year, Ford has sold 3,933 units of the Ranger, 61 percent higher than the same period in 2013.
Ford sold 523 units of EcoSport urban SUV in July, while the Everest SUV delivered sales of 258 units and Ford Explorer with 98 units.
Ford said overall year-to-date sales have surged 41 percent to 10,587 units.
"Our July success is a continuation of an exceptional year for Ford in the Philippines, and demonstrates that Ford is going further to deliver a line-up of global vehicles that Filipinos continue to appreciate and enjoy,” said Hart.
Ford also reaffirmed its plans to have 37 dealers in the country by the end of the year.
