MANILA, Philippines – Toyota Motor Philippines breached the 10,000 sales mark in July, posting a 65 percent growth compared to year-ago figures.
Toyota said it sold 10,123 units in July, marking the first time any local car manufacturer experienced such performance in terms of vehicle sales.
The jump in sales was attributed to the strong performances of the Vios and the Innova, which both posted record sales in July since it was launched in the Philippine market.
Toyota said it sold 2,480 units of Vios and 1,614 units Innova last month.
Other Toyota models also performed well with the mini hatchback Wigo selling 935 units, the utility van Hiace registering 1,280 units and the Fortuner at 1,350 units.
Toyota said its Philippine sales for the year as of July grew by 43 percent to 58,635.
"Achieving more than 10,000 units in a single month is indeed a leap forward coming from a 9,000 unit sales level last May. We see this feat as another motivation to our Team to constantly find ways in serving our customers and partners even better,” Toyota Motor Philippines president Michinobu Sugata said.
