MANILA, Philippines - Business leaders are satisfied with the performance of President Aquino in the first 2 years of his administration.

Employers Confederation of the Philippines president Ed Lacson said overall Aquino's performance is okay but this may be the right time to support initiatives to change some economic provisions of the constitution.

Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (Philexport) president Sergio Ortiz-Luis said though development is not quite fast, the business sector is quite satisfied with the performance of the president. Ortiz-Luis wants the President to fast-track development projects in airports and seaports especially in Mindanao.

The Philexport president is also calling on Aquino to strategize well on the terriorial dispute with China, insisting that the Philipines can't really afford to wage a shooting or economic war with China.

But economist and former National Treasurer Leonor Briones gives the president an overall failing mark of 4.5 in a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest.

According to Briones, while there was economic growth, majority of Filipinos still do not feel their lives have improved.

Briones also cites the non-passage of promised bills like Freedom of Information, improvement in the witness protection program and the reforms in land registration.

Briones said the President must also live up to its slogan of "Kayo ang boss ko", insisting that servants consult with their bosses before doing something, a process she says is lacking in the current administation.
