MANILA, Philippines - Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said rotating brownouts in Metro Manila will continue on Monday, as power supply continues to remain tight.
Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said three-hour rotating brownouts will start at 10 a.m. today, amid a red alert on power supply.
"Meron tayong schedule na brownouts today...We have advice from system operator NGCP that we will be having a three-hour outages sa araw na ito sa certain period of time," he said on DZMM.
The following Meralco franchise areas will experience power interruption from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.:
METRO MANILA - Caloocan, Makati, Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Pasay, San Juan, Valenzuela and Quezon City (Bago Bantay, Balintawak, Greater Fairview, La Loma, Mabuhay, Novaliches, San Bartolome, San Jose)
PAMPANGA - Apalit
The following areas will experience power interruption from 11a.m. - 2 p.m.:
BULACAN - Marilao, Meycauayan
CAVITE - Cavite City, Dasmarinas, General Trias, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, Rosario, Trece Martirez City
LAGUNA - Liliw
Meanwhile, Zaldarriaga said Meralco is now working to restore electricity for the remaining 13,000 households in Metro Manila who still have no power. For the entire franchise area, he noted there are still 280,000 accounts without power.
"We hope to close it out by today," he said.
