MANILA - A technology company is partnering with Sarao Motors Inc. to convert standard jeepneys with diesel engines into electric jeepneys.
QEV Technologies, a subsidiary of QEV Capital Pte. Ltd., said Thursday that it is looking to help local manufacturers convert jeepneys with internal combustion engines into more environment-friendly electric vehicles.
The company announced this as QEV Philippines, the local unit of QEV Capital, unveiled its version of the electric jeepney.
QEV Philippines, a joint venture between Philippine and Spanish businessmen, is also looking to put up electric vehicle charging stations in malls and gasoline stations.
The company said it is in talks with Shell, Ayala, and SM for the initial network of charging station locations.
