MANILA, Philippines - BMW continues to dominate the premium luxury segment in the Philippines, posting record sales in June.
Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the country, posted its highest sales record of 106 units sold in June 2012. This brought BMW's share in the local market to 41% in June.
"We have retained the number one position in the premium luxury segment mainly because of the BMW products which are the core of the company’s momentum and the outstanding quality of our service to the Filipino market. We credit our success to the company’s unceasing focus on innovation and dynamism and we will continue to strive to meet our customers’ high demands and standards and maintain our leadership in the segment," ACC president Maricar Parco said, in a statement.
In particular, ACC cited the exceptional sales of the 3 Series and 5 Series in the first half of the year.
The 3 Series, whose 6th generation model was introduced in the local market in May, remains the leader in its segment. Sales of the 3 Series saw a 43% jump in month-on-month sales and 67% month-to-date sales.
"Our 3 Series still proves to be the best selling sport sedan, setting new benchmark in terms of sporting prowess, elegance and comfort," said Glen Dasig, ACC executive director for sales and marketing.
The 5 Series likewise showed a 69% month-on-month sales growth and 48% year-on-year sales. Dasig said the 5 Series was its biggest selling vehicle in the first half of 2012.
BMW is continuing to expand its dealership network around the country. It recently broke ground for its 4th dealership in Metro Manila, which is expected to be operational by February 2013. This will bring the total number of dealerships in the country to 7.
"We are excited for the second half of 2012 and expect the company to post continuous growth. With the line-up of our dealership expansion, we are certain that our position as the number one brand in the premium luxury segment will be sustained," Parco said.
