MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine government is not supporting the call of a US-based Filipino group to boycott Chinese products.

Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said the Philippines' relationship with China is much bigger than the territorial dispute.

He, however, added that the group US Pinoys for Good Governance has the right to denounce China's actions in the disputed territory.

"The boycott of Chinese products is a private initiative of Filipinos in the United States. This is not a government initiative..." he told ANC.

"This is part of democratic rights to bring to the fore what they believe should be done as far as this issue is concerned but we are not supportive of this and the government has not made any statement on this to support this move because we believe the issue of the South China Sea or the West Philippine Sea or the Bajo de Masinloc is only a small part of the whole gamut of our relationship with China," he added.
