MANILA - Telecommunications firm PLDT on Thursday denied allegations that some of its high-ranking officials own or manage some service firms tagged for labor-only contracting.
Service contractors engaged by PLDT are "bona fide" corporations and are properly registered with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), PLDT told the stock exchange.
"None of these are owned or managed by PLDT officials," the statement said.
The alleged ownership of service contractors by high-ranking PLDT officials are "baseless and fabricated," the firm said.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Wednesday released a clarificatory order urging PLDT to regularize 7,000 workers. The firm was given 10 days to respond or to file an appeal.
