MANILA, Philippines - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas recently celebrated National Savings Consciousness Week with elementary students in Baguio City.
This year's theme was: “Pag-iimpok ugaliin, Para sa magandang kinabukasan natin.”
Students from Baguio City’s Special Education Center and Lucban Elementary School deposited their savings in participating banks under the Kiddie Account Program (KAP).
The children opened their coin banks, exchanged their coins for banknotes with retailers, and opened savings accounts using their banknotes.
In the process, the students responded to the savings promotion campaign and the Coin Recirculation Program of the BSP.
The KAP savings program is one of the activities under the “Banking on Your Future” campaign of the BSP with the Bankers Association of the Philippines, the Chamber of Thrift Banks, the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines, and the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines.
It complements the DepEd-BSP financial education program that integrates lessons on saving, money management and entrepreneurship into the elementary education curriculum.
