But higher generation charge seen
MANILA – Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said it is implementing a lower distribution charge for its residential customers this month, but this might be offset by a higher generation charge as more power plants bogged down last month.
In a statement, Meralco said its distribution charge will go down by P0.15 per kilowatt hour.
But the power distributor expects generation charge to go up from June's P5.31 per kilowatt hour.
The Luzon electricity grid experienced 27 hours of "yellow alert” status in June, meaning electricity reserves were thin and prices high.
A yellow alert was raised for 25 hours in May, and 6 hours in April.
