MANILA - The broadband subsidiary of Smart Communications Inc. is now offering a postpaid plan that lets subscribers enjoy unlimited Internet access from anywhere in the country at a flat rate of P1,500 a month.
Smart Broadband Inc. said its newest postpaid plan can provide Internet speeds of up to 2 megabits per second (mbps) via the Smart Bro modem, a palm-sized device that can be plugged into a computer's USB port. Called "Plan 1,500 Unlimited", the broadband package comes with a lock-in period of 24 months.
"This new plan increases the broadband options available to our subscribers and gives them the freedom and flexibility to access and benefit from the Internet as long as they want, from wherever they are in the country," Smart Bro product manager Ava Espanola said. At present, Smart has over 3,300 wireless broadband-enabled stations nationwide.
The new plan also offers unlimited Wi-Fi access at all Airborne Access hotspots nationwide. Airborne Access is the country's largest Wi-Fi hotspot operator, and is a subsidiary of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., Smart's parent company.
"As we innovate and offer more and more services under our mobile broadband portfolio, we hope to advance Smart's vision of 'Internet for all,' or to bring the benefits of broadband Internet to the grassroots level," Espanola said.
Aside from Plan 1,500 Unlimited, Smart Bro offers Plan 799, which provides up to 60 hours of free Internet use every month with speeds of up to 2 mbps. Users are required to pay a two-month advanced service fee of P1,598 to avail of the package, which has a lock-in period of 24 months.
Smart Bro also offers a prepaid kit worth P1,995, which includes the USB modem, a SIM card, and P100 worth of broadband load. It can provide speeds of up to 2 mbps, and charges P10 for every 30 minutes of Internet usage.
