MANILA, Philippines - First Gas Power Corp. (FGPC) has brought a new transformer for its 250-MW power plant unit in Santa Rita, Batangas City.
In a statement, FGPC said it has brought into the country a new 318MVA transformer for one of the 4 units of the Santa Rita natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant through plant operator
Siemens Power Operations, Inc.
The transformer will replace a similar piece of equipment that was damaged in February of this year.
The damaged transformer resulted in Unit 40 of Santa Rita becoming inoperable, and the loss of around 250 MW of the plant's 1,000 MW supply of electricity to the Luzon grid.
The new transformer will soon be installed at the Santa Rita plant site. Once completed, Unit 40 will resume operations and restore approximately 250 MW back to the Luzon grid.
FGPC is the subsidiary of Lopez-led First Gen Corp.
