MANILA, Philippines – The National Power Corporation (Napocor) has asked the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to allow it to recover from consumers the expenses and charges it incurred several months ago.

Napocor is asking for P0.08 per kilowatt hour to cover its missionary electrification, incremental currency exchange rate adjustment of P0.02/kwh, and P1.87/kwh for fuel costs.

For the missionary electrification component, Napocor needs P5.46 billion, while for fuel costs, it wants to raise P2.35 billion.

According to the ERC, while the missionary charge will be implemented to all consumers nationwide, the fuel recovery may also be charged to all consumers if the commission feels that it will be too burdensome to only charge those who are living in islands outside the grid.
