MANILA, Philippines - Imagine a service station with a theme park concept along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
PTT Philippines Corporation, the local unit of Thailand's PTT, will soon start building a "theme park concept service station" at the Clark-Tarlac segment of SCTEX.
PTT formally signed the 25-year contract for the development and operation of a service station with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Wednesday.
"This station is going to offer not just your usual gasoline station. It’s going to provide a wide variety of services and exciting amenities as we envision this as a travel destination as well," PTT Philippines president and chief executive officer Wisarn Chawalitanon said.
PTT Philippines is working with its parent company for the final design of the service station.
Under the contract, the service station should have rest rooms, sufficient and adequate parking slots, emergency first aid station, potable water and lighting system, emergency vehicle repair shop and convenience store.
PTT was given two years to complete the construction of a Toll Regulatory Board (TRB)-approved plan.
"Once we have submitted and got the approval of our proposed plan, we will immediately commence with the construction and, hopefully, we would be able to finish it in 2016,” Chawalitanon said.
Chawalitanon said they want to offer unique facilities that will cater to the whole family, similar to what it has in Thailand.
The PTT service station will be located in a 2-hectare property in the Macangcung Service Area in Barangay Santiago, Concepcion, Tarlac.
