MANILA, Philippines – Actor and television host Zoren Legaspi has requested the Department of Justice to extend the deadline for the submission of his counter-affidavit on allegations of tax evasion.
In a letter to assistant prosecutor Atty. Stewart Allan Mariano, Legaspi’s legal counsel Ricardo Revo sought to move the deadline to June 20 from the original date of June 6.
Revo said his client has to attend to personal matters in Tacloban City.
However, Mariano rejected Legaspi's request, saying the actor was already given enough time to answer the P4.45 million tax evasion complaint filed against him.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed the complaint on May 8 after records showed that Legaspi underdeclared his income for taxable years 2010 and 2012 by declaring only P6.79 million in 2010, and P1.82 million in 2012. -- Report from Alex Calda, dzMM
