MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom filed another complaint with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) against a company involved in sending text spam to its subscribers.
In a statement, Globe said it filed the complaint against Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP), which offers various training and seminar courses.
This is the second complaint filed by Globe against a text spammer. The first case was against Caritas Health Shield, Inc., a health insurance provider.
Globe said more complaints will be filed against such companies that use text spamming as a marketing tool.
In the case of CGBP, Globe asked the NTC to impose fines and penalties on the said company for sending text spam to subscribers.
Globe also asked the NTC to permanently prevent CGBP, its agents and employees from sending spam texts to customers. Pending the resolution of a case, Globe also sought a cease and desist order against CGBP.
"The complaint we filed against CGBP should serve as a warning to other companies whose agents send irritating spam messages to our customers. Globe Telecom will not tolerate the use of our network for activities that serve as a nuisance to our subscribers especially if they are unsolicited and unwanted,” Globe General Counsel Froilan Castelo said.
Here are some samples of spam messages from CGBP:
