MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Energy says Luzon is on "yellow alert" since Wednesday, a warning to the public that the supply of electricity is low.
This is due to the shutdown of the aging Sual Power Plant in Pangasinan, the largest coal-fired plant in the country.
The DOE says it is now eyeing to tap interruptible load program (ILP), wherein power distributor Meralco can tap 1MW to 15MW generators during rotating blackouts. - ANC
