For the chief executive officer and president of McDonald's Philippines, there are two bosses he needs to serve.
"You're the boss, but you're not really the boss. Your boss is really your customer and your employees," said McDonald's CEO and president Kenneth Yang.
Yang believes in being 'hands-on.' He also sees value in listening to people and empowering them.
The CEO admitted it can be stressful running a restaurant as there are "many things" that can go wrong.
Yang recalled a particular incident when he was a manager at their Greenbelt store in Makati when customers suddenly swarmed the place on a day he did not have enough manpower, thus slowing the service down.
"I think it helped me realize that in business, it's not all roses and you have to be prepared for challenges or hardships," said Yang. "So I think resiliency is important. You also have to rally your team," he added.
