MANILA, Philippines - Liquor maker Emperador Distillers Inc. has bought a production plant facility from the Philippine unit of Diageo, an international premium drinks company.
Emperador Distillers, a subsidiary of Andrew Tan's Alliance Global Group, purchased Diageo's plant in Laguna Technopark, Biñan, Laguna.
"The AGI acquisition aims to boost Emperador Distillers, Inc. production capacity and competitiveness here in the Philippines and abroad," AGI told the stock exchange.
Emperador Distillers is the largest liquor company in terms of sales volume in the Philippines. Its flagship brand is Emperador Brandy.
Diageo is an international company whose brands include Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Gordon's Gin and Jose Cuervo.
