MANILA - Some 10,000 bags of regular milled rice will be sold in Metro Manila at P39 per kilo after 17 truckloads of the grain were delivered to the capital on Monday.
The 17 cargo trucks, each with 400 to 800 bags of rice from Nueva Ecija province, delivered the staple to the National Food Authority warehouse in Quezon City.
Areas that are running low on supply of government-subsidized rice will be prioritized for delivery, said Victor del Rosario, president of the Nueva Ecija Rice Millers Association.
The government is moving to ensure enough supply of affordable rice, including imports, after the NFA said its buffer was running short.
