MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Tuesday said it collected P82.18 billion in tax revenues in March.
This was nearly 10% higher than tax revenues collected in the same month a year ago, but still fell short of the agency's March collection goal of P90.5 billion.
The BIR said collections from operations jumped 9.6% to P78.91 billion in March, while collections from non-BIR operations reached P3.27 billion or 14% higher than year-ago figures.
At the same time, collections by the Regional Offices rose 10% to P31.79 billion in March. The regional offices have been showing double-digit growth in collections since last year.
Collections by the BIR's Large Taxpayer Service went up 9% to P47.12 billion in March.
The BIR's tax collection goal for 2014 is P1.456 trillion.
