MANILA, Philippines - Ford Philippines said sales surged in the first quarter, driven by strong demand for its Ranger, Everest, Explorer, and Fiesta brands in March.
March was a record month for Ford, with retail sales jumping 34% to 1,339 units. This helped steer first quarter sales to 3,692 units, 38% higher than the same period in 2013.
"With our expanding line-up of global Ford vehicles in our showrooms, we are reaching out to more customers, which in turn is helping to widen our brand appeal in the market," said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.
The all-new Ranger continued to be Ford's best-selling nameplate in the country, as March sales soared 91% to 564 units.
Ford’s popular SUVs also continued to sell well in March. Sales of Ford Explorer grew more than six-fold to 119 units, while sales of Ford Everest rose 15% to 319 units in March.
The new Ford Fiesta also reported 45% jump in sales to 247 units in March, driven by healthy demand for its 1.0L EcoBoost variant. Ford’s revolutionary EcoBoost engine technology helps the downsized 1.0L engine deliver the power and performance of a traditional 1.6L engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.
Meanwhile, Ford Philippines said it will started fulfilling customer deliveries of the all-new Ford EcoSport on April 3.
Ford is expanding its nationwide dealer network to 37 locations this year to help support the company’s continued growth.
