BUTUAN CITY -- About 100 armed men, believed to be members of the New People's Army (NPA), attacked a mining company in Tubay, Agusan del Norte early Saturday morning.
The rebels attacked Alston Mining Company in Barangay Tagmamarkay. The company is owned by a certain Mr. Chin, a Chinese national.
The rebels disarmed the security guards on duty, and took off with their weapons.
They also burned two bulldozers, two backhoes, four dump trucks, and the company's office.
The rebels immediately fled the area. The group is allegedly led by alias "Dodi" of Guerilla Front 21.
Authorities are on the lookout for the rebels. They are also preparing for any diversionary tactics from the rebels. -- report from Rodge Cultura, ABS-CBN News Caraga
