MANILA - Senator Sergio Osmena III on Wednesday said he may not wait for the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) to award the Cebu airport project before he files a case against them for allegedly waiving their own rules.
Osmena said the top bidder, the Megawide-GMR group, would have been disqualified if the DOTC had stuck to its conflict of interest rules.
But he said the DOTC illegally waived a provision.
Osmena said Megawide and its Indian partner GMR should have been disqualified not just for a conflict of interest but due to GMR's finances and its performance in other airports.
Megawide, GMR, and the DOTC deny the allegations made by Osmena and second-highest bidder Filinvest, which would get the project if Megawide-GMR is disqualified. - report from ANC Business Nightly
