MANILA, Philippines - Banks will be closed from April 5 to 10 for the Holy Week.
It is expected that the public will use ATM machines to withdraw cash. That's why many are apprehensive about a possible cash shortage.
But the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) assured the public that banks have enough supply of cash in their ATMs to last the long holiday.
The BSP also said it continues to monitor and alert banks to replenish ATMs that have no more cash.
However, the central bank also reminded the public that as much as possible, the use of ATMs should be for emergency purposes only.
When using an ATM, one should also make sure that it is in good condition and in a well-lit area.
